Charmed Comic coming in summer 2010

Decided to peek in and see if there was any news on the comics, was shocked to find that I'm almost an entire page behind in the discussion already! :S Saw the link Nerf gave to the cover for Issue 2 (which I'm very surprised that we're getting already, since the comics themselves haven't even been released already). Some thoughts: I think it looks beautiful. The girls look amazing, as always, and I really like how artsy it looks. However, unless the plot of this issue ends up being nature-based (perhaps a revisit to the nymph community? , I see it as being pretty inappropriate. :/ I love that Piper is in the middle once again (it's about time she claimed her spot as the oldest! ), but I'm also hoping that they move the girls around based on their significance in each issue. I just can't explain it, but the more I see it, the more I like it.

Will definitely check out that article as soon as I find the time!

As the Charmed Ones go about settling into their new lives forces from the underworld prepare to unleash a power that will destroy the Charmed Ones once and for all. Meanwhile Paige accepts a new charge and learns the hard way that teaching isn't always the easiest job when your student is a witch in training. Phoebe and Piper attend the funeral of Brittany, the first innocent they ever saved, only to find that her death may herald the beginnings of a threat that may endanger not only all the innocents the have saved, but the Charmed ones themselves.

That's a pretty cool poster. I don't like the LQ textures used and I hate the tacky ghost (Brittany maybe?). But I actually love the idea of bringing the "First Innocent" into it, and I can't wait to see/read those parts of the comic and guys, this is only the beginning. If the storyline is going to be this good for the first issue(s), I can't wait for the future issues.

So this is what Kern-less Charmed sounds like... amazing.
Continuity, you are back. And it sounds like a promising tale. And hey, no mention of Billie at all. Thank you Jeebus.

Is it just me or does the synopsis seem rushed and unofficial? Grammatical errors and typos. But as said, seems promising. I just can't wait.

Brittany isn't the first innocent Phoebe saved. Not technically. She saved those 2 (?) bikers in 1.01 and we know innocents don't always have to be saved from demons to be innocents.

BUT other than that I love the synopsis and I'm definitely staying with the Seidman covers. Glad continuity's back, despite what I said above.

Ah, but then the word "they" was still used, so benefit of doubt as the writers probably mean the first innocent they saved together.

Story better play out or I'm going to be damn ashamed I'm defending them here.

And yeah, now they owe you for defending them. So let's hope the name "Brittany" doesn't remain the only thing continuity-related to the story.

Wow! Brittany is a blast from the past! That part really connects seasons 1-4 to seasons 5-8 for me. I'm really happy Seidman is a regular artist. I agree with Active Engaged, the ghost and Phoebe look really tacky. Also, Paige looking like she did in season 5 when this takes part years later is also kind of weird for me. But still, love it! Sounds like Ruditis and Gregory wants to bring in a new witch that we'll love instead of Billie.

Another new interview has been done, which can be read HERE. There's nothing majorly new that we haven't already heard about, but there is another extract which looks pretty cool, and I think, features Leo as well as evidence of them already being creative with their lack of budget restraints:

Seems like the demon has come right out of the pages of the book, and perhaps Paige is using her TK (I think it's safe to assume that's what TK will look like when drawn) to urge it back in. I think. And yeah, that looks like Leo.

Although the interview doesn't tell much new about the comics, I enjoyed reading it. The writers seem to know and understand the show well. I'm really interested in the Spellbook Issue.

Yeah, every time I read an interview with them I get the impression that they have really done their homework, so hopefully it'll result in that when the comics are out.

I guess the storyline about reclaiming Magic School for good is out. I really digging the new preview. We get an idea of what demons would look like now that Charmed has entered the comic world. I'm positive that is Paige and Leo. It looks like Paige gets a power advancement from telekinetic orbing to regular telekinesis. We get a small glimpse of what Leo will look like in comic form and not just the sisters. I really like the overall preview. It has that dark Hogwarts feel that I liked and I haven't felt that way about the series since season 6.

After reading that article, I am without a doubt that the show is in good hands. I agreed with pretty much everything they said, and found myself smiling after reading most of their answers. Plus, that new preview looks awesome. I seriously can not wait!

On a sidenote, I'm not so sure about the "power advances", since there's no way of knowing for sure until we see the final artwork (with color and effects). For example, Belle (from Disney's Beauty and the Beast) has triangles on her cheeks in her lineart, which are replaced by a slight blush in the final colored versions.

In this case, the blob circling the book (as well as the female villain's power shown when she pushes the man off the building), will most likely be replaced with some kind of effect. For the book, it'll probably be orbs. Judging by the interviews, I'm pretty sure the writers have done their research, and in the final scenes of Forever Charmed, Paige was still shown TKOing, so I'm pretty sure that she's TKOing the book.

I hope that book is hopefully not the Book. I would hate it if they draw the Book wrong.

Speaking of villains, I daresay the female villain in the first preview is Brittany or is an impersonation, as she has the same hair and if you look closely, there's something resembling an angel tatoo on her hand.
