Charmed Continuity

Now, we all know that the writers of Charmed made various mistakes throughout the course of the series.

I'm writing my "Charmed Again" series, and in doing so I've just realised that I too have made a mistake. I have a so far 'mysterious' character who has only been mentioned a few times and hasn't been seen.

The only way to really explain my mistake is through spoilers to my story >_<

The original intent for this character, Astrid (Bowen), was that she was the mother of Phoebe Bowen - Prue's past life. However, I've just learned that in fact Lola Mack was Phoebe Bowen's mother according to the family tree from the show. I've read pages of CharmedWiki over and over again and I didn't know this until now (I was either blind or it wasn't there) and I sort of winged it a little and bridged the connection between the two characters based on their same last name.

Now, I know that the Charmed family tree has multiple errors, such as three sets of three sisters instead of just P3 as prophecised and there are multiple males born into the family, even though it's stated that Wyatt was the first male born into the Warren line. Do I just let my mistake go because the family tree is full of contradictions? Or should I make it so if it was on the show then it is 100% cannon?

Or should I re-write my entire story to get the family tree 100% correct? Or rather, as correct as it can be. I can think of a way to retcon Astrid into the family tree, most likely as Phoebe Bowen's cousin (with a surname change), but would that feel cheap?

I'm so close to finishing my latest chapter and in all honesty I don't want to edit and re-upload already released chapters.

What would any of you do? Should I stay 100% canon even if it's contradictory, or should I just go with the flow since the show has screwed up it wouldn't be so bad if I screw up?

I have said this once, and I'll say it again. CharmedWiki is as reliable as IMDB, ie it's a mess. They don't know how to sort of their information into canon, semi-canon and fanfiction, and just ejaculate information everywhere to accomplish masturbatory ecstacy.

I'd suggest you talk to our very own walking CharmedWiki, Terry, who knows how to seperate fact from fiction and wear the metaphorical condom to make sure both parties are safe.

Also, as you mentioned, that family-tree prop was so darn inconsistent. So you can make your own, just remember to keep the consistent stuff consistent.

PS: I believe David had a similar issue with the said site, and it's in one of the threads in "The Underworld". Find it and post any help questions there from now on.

Anyway, Josh, as far as I know, P. Bowen's mother was never named on the show, and the part where her name is written on the family tree was never shown either that I know of. So unless one of the CharmedWiki editors owns a copy of the official prop, you may go with Astrid Bowen.

And anyway, I wouldn't rely too much on that tree since, as you said yourself, it's full of mistakes. For one, according to it, Grams was THIRTEEN when she gave birth to Patty, so, there... And it says she died in 1968... before her granddaughters were even born. Wow. They didn't even try, did they? Just wrote down a bunch of random dates, I guess.
