I know this may come as a shocker for some, but I recently spoke of adding an additional chapter for W.L, meaning there'd be a total of 28 Chapters excluding a potential Epilogue... Well, upon almost finishing Chapter 26 tonight, I think there's a chance that there may be two additional chapters... And I kinda just wanna explain where the hell are these chapters are spitting out from.
When trying to close a series, a project that will touch its third year since premiere come this July, you realize how much time, thought and energy goes into such a thing. Frankly, I paid more attention to this story than my studies in my High School Senior Year (hence my lack of a full-ride scholarship) and while writing Chapter 26, I was just not fully impressed by it, but I'm not one to ever completely delete something. But working around it? Hell yeah.
That's not to say that Chapter 26 is complete trash, it's just that there was too much going on as it was and I realized it was missing something very important that you as the reader might've complained about after reading Chapter 25, and hell, I would've been setting fire to my house as well. It feels like a cop-out, but this is why I've decided to add a small chapter that would sit in between Chapter 25, "The Ghost Whitelighter" and would push the current Chapter 26 into the slot of Chapter 27... And in writing what is still currently Chapter 26, I realized that the big part of the chapter would be better suited written off as a smaller chapter and truly given its space to shine instead of writing it off in four, five pages.
These events mean a lot to me and I don't wanna look back on this story as something that had a beautiful start and clearly lost its glow in the final chapters. There's just some much character ascension that I've intentionally (and unintentionally, but thankfully surprised) tried to reach and I wanna give it its time to be truly explained. Some edits will be made towards Chapter 26, of course (the new Chapter 27), but for the readers that are still out there, you're being graced with two more chapters.
To spell it out for you...
Chapter 25: The Ghost Whitelighter.
Chapter 26: T.B.A (a new small chapter, devoted to an important theme.)
Chapter 27: T.B.A (bumped back; this was the original Chapter 26)
Chapter 28: Spiritus Rector (an expansive chapter stemmed directly from Chapter 27)
Chapter 29: Through the Monsoon (Story Finale.)
And should I ever write that Epilogue, that would mean...
Chapter 30: Epilogue.
And thirty chapters is definitely a number I always wanted to reach; the addition of these two new chapters would help me out in reaching that tri-stone (eh??) of a chapter, and of course the readership has waned, but the readers I still have, you guys have been writing such inspiring reviews lately that I'm willing to kick a little more ass into this project to give it the end it needs.
So, these are the plans as to the Final Chapters of Witchlighter. As for what this means with Chapter 25's release date, I don't wanna promise anything soon, but maybe if I pluck out a preview scene (possibly a new opener I want to write!), then maybe that will work for a bit.
