I've been watching Angel a lot recently, and I just finished watching season 4 and I must say it is very good. Definitly darker than Buffy but it doesn't have that extra something Btvs had. In the episode 4x06 Spin the bottle the storyline was dark, but very funny. And Loren was good in that episode, I was really sad when I heard Hallett died of heart failure, and at the young age of 33.

Season 4 of Angel was by far the greatest season, but your right. Angel just doesn't have that humor that Buffy did. Everything was just a great big laugh in Buffy, but the seriousness of Angel worked because of his character.
And I was also devastated when I found out Andy died. It was so sudden. I didn't even know that he was sick. Lmfao, I sound like I know him.

It didn't know he died! That is sad...Man...
To be honest, I never really got into Angel. There was some humor, but the seriousness kind of bummed me at times. It did have great scenes, and especially fight scenes, but I prefer Buffy lol.
I have seen Buffy all the way through about 7 times (my family loves Buffy), and I have to say that out of Buffy's seasons, I think the best for me was season 4. I like her high school years, but the first time she is out to college was totally awesome.
What is everyone's favorite season?

I think I've been through this before, like a week ago on C-net.
Season 5. Or 3. More season 5 though, it had such a good plot and some episodes were really amazing, like the Gifted, the Weight of the world. Dawn was annoying though.

Yeah, I am not a big fan of Dawn. I like how they made Buffy like a mom, for it shows how much her character has grown, but Dawn was just too much of a brat for me. I don't know how someone could be annoying when Buffy turned out just fine. But whatever lol. I have to say how much I loved Faith. She was such an awesome character, and I like the arc of her turning evil. Very interesing .

About Angel vs Buffy, I have to agree that Buffy is better. I really like Angel, but as you guys said, it just didn't have that little extra something. I love dark plots and all that, but... I dunno, Buffy was just better. Favorite season of Buffy.... Hmm. That's a tough one for me. Certainly not S6. I liked a good bunch of stuff from that season, but it was the start of Willow not being Willow anymore and it also made Spike into someone I didn't like anymore. When he left after trying to rape Buffy, I was hoping he wouldn't come back. Later I was glad he did, but still. He was never the same either. Not until he moved over to Angel in its 5th season (which I loved). I like a lot of S3, but I think I'll say S5. It had a consistently good plot all the way through and probably the show's best villain. Glory was just awesome. Funny, insane, and really powerful. Adam was certainly tough, but Glory... wow. Some of the best fights were with her. Buffy's first fight with her, the fight with Willow and then with Buffy after she showed up, and of course the awesome fight in "Gifted." Speaking of, I really liked Buffy's fighting style this season. They changed stunt doubles and Buffy became a much more graceful fighter, with cool flips and stuff. This is one reason I like Buffy more than Angel. Most of the fights on Angel were like street fighting, brawlish. The fights on Buffy were much more graceful, cool choreography, and just more fun to watch. Angel did have some awesome fights, though. The first one with the team against the Beast. The quick, lethal fight with Illyria when he powers were shifting time. But for the most part, Buffy had better fights. As for Dawn... Well, Rhod, Buffy turned out fine because she was raised by Joyce. Dawn wasn't. Little key was stuffed into a teenage, hormonal body with the memories of being raised, but not having the actual experience. Eh. Not the best explanation. I didn't like Dawn, either, in S5 or S6. But I did like her for the most part in S7. She seemed to grow up and become (mostly) likable. I totally agree with Faith. She (and Eliza Dushku) are just so awesome. Having her in S3 was great and I loved it whenever she came back. It was so cool to see the differences in her and Buffy's fighting styles. Buffy was always quick, with lighter punches, but she was able to get in more. Faith was slower, but had more power behind her punches and kicks. And man, when they would fight against each other... those are some of the best, if not the best, fights of the show. The first one in "Revelations", the big one in "Graduation Day, Part 1", and the one in "This Year's Girl." So awesome. ;D Okay... now I've been put into a Buffy mood. I'm going to go watch an episode now. ;D I haven't watched the show in quite awhile. Glad this thread showed up.
