"Relive the Magic" suggestions

Okay, we have had two of these so far. The first was quite successful, the second not so much. We didn't get too many entries for the contests (but I believe this is because everyone is quite busy with the end of the school year), but discussion was basically non-existent. I tried to get some good discussion going, but didn't get any response. The other threads were also quite bare.

It just kind of diminishes our motivation to continue with these when we don't get much response. A lot of work goes into them and it's disheartening to see much of that work go to waste.

So. The point of this thread is to get ideas from all of you members, suggestions. What do you think we should add? What do you think we should take out? What kind of things could we do that you would want to take part in? Are the contests good enough, or do you have any suggestions for changing them? Do you have any ideas for prizes that could be given out, or is it okay to just have these for fun and have me come up with random, imaginary prizes?

The next one we want to do is "Forever Charmed" since its anniversary is next week. I do want to work on having that up for next week, but as said, my motivation to do it is dwindling. Any suggestions you guys have would be greatly appreciated. We are doing these things for you, so knowing what you would like would help us out a lot.

Also, any suggestions for episodes to do after the next one would also be appreciated. Think of ones that would spawn good discussion/debate and one that would allow for a good writing contest idea.

Well I believe your right about since school is ending things were dwindling this past time but I really like RtM it gives us a chance to literally relive the magic but yea maybe we could have prizes such as a set for the winners or something maybe the winners could help choose the next episode to do for relive the magic.

Forever Charmed should be a great episode to do for the next round there are many things we can do with that episode. Maybe we could add a thread where there could be an alternate approach to the episode like if different things had happened such as the largest one had Prue not died and another sister died or small things to make the episode come out different.

Episodes after this one that i would like to see would be...

Pardon My Past, Deja Vu All Over Again, That 70's Episode (a good family episode), Hell Hath No Fury or Necromancing The Stone (a good Grams episode)

I really like Relive the Magic too, and as Nerf said, the threads were bare, me and Harrison were one of the firsts to post in the threads, but three people can only have a conversation for so long.

I agree with Quadquetra in the sense that an actually prize needs to be given out. Such as the set, or sort of what was done for Writer's Trial. Just a small graphic, or something. I would be excited to see something virtually tangible lol.

As for future RTM's, I think Pardon My Past is a GREAT one to do, you could do a lot with those. Others I think you should do: Something Wicca This Way Comes, Oh My Goddesses, It's a Bad Bad World, or Just Harried.

I can see why you might be feeling this way, Nerf. But I must say, if prizes are really what has to make people come on to this board and be active, I don't think that is a good enough reason to continue. I'm here because Charmed was such a big part of my life which opened me up to a community that I never would've thought existed, filled with many people who I am friends with for all intensive purposes and enjoy chatting with.

I personally think that a new thread should be made calling out to all members who sign into this board and state whether or not they are willing to take five minutes to respond to a post each day. Many people have more time than that to sign on and stare at posts, so why can't we take at least five? Personally, I think this board would be much more enjoyable (in contests and out) if we knew who really are members of this board and who are willing to put in the time.

There is always going to be unexplored territory in Charmed because everyone's unique imaginations run wild and different, so even if you don't think you have something to say, just start typing; it always helps.

Overall, I think we should keep everything in the RtM except for maybe the bloopers and trivia. I don't really care much about little facts in the episode per say, unless they relate to plot speculation and discussion.

I could also dig through and find episode links to parts of the episode online so people who don't have access to the DVDs could relive the magic that week by watching the episode.

People can't be forced to respond, it's just impossible. We'd never reduce to the board to ten members just because we know they'll fight tooth and nail to pop in, type something up, and go along their way. With prizes, I don't see what's against them. Especially if it's just a set, considering people like showing off what they triumphed in. Maybe it'll boost the popularity of a member and their writing and gain them a new reader, just because someone caught "whiff" of the promotional piece they're wearing.

Considering I don't do nearly enough for RtM backstage, I'll speak out as a regular member. I do think the Bloopers and Trivia are awesome, but maybe too much work on your end. Maybe if people are interested, they can venture out and watch the episode, then return with any contradictions, wardrobe slips, or whatever else they could discover within the episode.

I really hope I can make a stronger effort for the writing entry next round as I still have ideas bouncing for the Piper piece I wanted to do (and may get to at a later date, but I doubt it), but I'd like to take a breath from my only Charmed writing at the moment and just do a one-off. Also, maybe in regards to "Forever Charmed", maybe we should make it a RtM Two-Parter of both KBV2 and Forever Charmed. The finale does flow fifteen, twenty minutes (or however the hell far Phoebe's loft is) from the prior. Not to mention, who doesn't want to be "assigned" to watch the manor blown to chunks again?

OMG, Adam! You just gave me a great idea! SQUEE! *cough* Sorry, but I'm excited. How do you always inspire such great ideas? Magic? I think that may be the case.

Second, do you mean first do KBV2, then FC, or do both at the same time? The second one would kinda ruin the whole "doing FC during its anniversary" thing, but I would love to do both of those episodes next to one another.

I did originally mean doing both at the same time, but I think if we cover both within a month, it'll still respect the anniversary of the series end. Both aired in May, right? But you can always split it if you want. Two weeks covering KBV2 and the following two towards Forever Charmed. If you got another idea floating around, by all means.

Okay, first, I have to agree with Adam. I think us members should find the trivia and bloopers in the episode feautered. It's much better than reading them. It could actually be fun and entertaining.

Second, I agree with Harry, Charmed has kept us all together. I know I barely post in the RtM threads, but that doesn't mean I don't want to. I think this thread is an eye-opener, really, IMO. It shows how important it is to discuss the magic of Charmed that entertained us all in each and everytime. I, personally, am willing to start making an effort to be more active on this board. I owe it to the show.

Back to the main topic. As for the contests, I think we should keep both writing and graphics, beacuse there are some that has talen in one of them. I suggest a Debate thread. I know there's one open, but a debate about one subject of the episode feautered would be great, and it may attract more members. I think a simple prize is another good idea. A set would be perfect. Nothing more. Also, I'm hoping that not only those "special" episodes would only be in RtM. I think any episode would be great, really.

But alright, if a set from the Elders isn't too much trouble to make for the winners, that'd be great. Your points about increasing member popularity which leads into maybe potential readers makes a lot of sense.

I also agree for celebrating the anniversary with Forever Charmed as well as KBV2. Maybe even a joint scheme featuring both of the episode's key moments.

Manar, your specific debate topic idea sounds fantastic! A pre-picked topic to discuss would really help, I think.

Yes, yes, yes. Thank you all so much for digging into this and giving some great ideas. Several things are already forming in my head and I'm feeling that the next RTM is going to be great.

Question. I love the debate idea. But would you all like to make it into something where we would have two teams, one assigned pro and one assigned con, or would you just like to have it free style where everyone just posts their thoughts? I'm fine either way, especially since I have been planning.... something.

Also, I of course want to do non "special" episodes as well, since many of my favorites are not one of those "big" episodes. The thing is that with the regular episodes it's a little harder. When we are having writing contests and debates and all that, a lot of thought and work has to go into coming up with a good writing challenge that is connected to that episode, or for this debate thing we would have to come up with a strong debate. Now I have been working on ideas in my mind from some of the episodes you have mentioned and I'm becoming more free in my thinking of the writing being able to be linked to the episode theme wise and not so directly, which is working nicely. But still, it can be hard. I'm not saying we couldn't figure out some strong ideas for a random, regular episode, but it could be hard. Suggestions are always helpful, as this thread is showing.

On the side topic of member involvement on the board, I have been mulling this idea around in my head that could be quite fun and could definitely entice/motivate people to be active. More on that later.

Again, thank you for all the ideas. I'll be working with the other Elders to make these things happen. Meanwhile, keep suggesting any ideas, or opinions you may have.

Definitely pro vs. con debate. That sounds so cool. Maybe there can be three people on each team, or however many sign up. Then when the RtM ends, the judges (Elders) can decide which side had the better argument and then that team can all win the same banner to be worn.

Oh, and Nerf, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what these ideas are that are forming in your head. You've created so much suspense.

As for member activity, I know this from being on sites and owning one, that summer is going to be the best time for membership to arise.

Anyways, I totally agree with Nerf that small episodes would be interesting to work with. Something like "Sin Francisco" would be an interesting one, or something else like that.

We could have a theme for like every month or two such as a time dedicated to the original power of three and another for the new. Maybe a Month centered on one sister or their love lives. I hope that makes sense.

That's a cool idea, not needing to have every RTM focus on an episode, but can focus on a certain character sometimes as well. Maybe one that discusses their best episodes and such. Good idea, Quadquetra.

Well i still meant to feature episodes lol but that works to but what i meant was like if we focused on Prue the episode could be something like Sight Unseen and for Piper maybe Just Harried etc. but if it was like themed for the original P3 the maybe episodes like Pardon My Past or Sin Fransisco you know? And also as another idea maybe you Elders can put up a poll and give us choices of like 3 or 4 episodes and we all vote.

I'm glad some of you liked my idea. I'm with Harry on pro vs con debate. That would much more exciting, and well, cool. Haha. I agree with the other things that Harry said on this idea.

Nerf, I can't wait for you to reveal your ideas. They sound really intersting. Oh, also, characters are going to be feautered on RtM? That's pretty awsome.

Also, Jeff, I actually love the idea of the poll. That would give the members a chance to choose the RtM episode. Great idea.

I think all the ideas are great. I love the idea of the debate thread and the prizes.

I think having a RTM on a specific character is a great idea, whether its just in one episode or throughout the series. It has alot of potential.

I just want to apologize to the elders for not being very active, its hard with school and all but i'll try to make more of an effort for the next RTM.

Oh, I just got an idea. How about a simple thread that allows members to rename the episode feautered? And with different titles can lead to discussion. Hmm, not 100% sure it's RtM metrial. What do you guys think?
