Alternate Season 2: Building A Mystery premieres at Rebirth.
A big day for me as a writer, as I had been debating for a month whether to release BAM at a charmed community message board. Questions of 'Will they think it's silly?', 'Will they like the characters?'; 'Are the characterisations in keeping with the show?'; 'Will they even want to read 50+ pages of script-formatted work?' ran through my mind, but the main one I wrestled with was 'Will this be good enough to post there?'. In the end I decided to throw caution to the wind and post, and I am so very glad I did.
Alternate Season 2: Building A Mystery (BAM) is now a year old, with 12 full-length episodes premiered. The reader base is small, but it is a readerbase who is passionate about and supportive of the series and it's characters, and as a writer I couldn't be more blessed to have such wonderful people reading BAM. I appreciate all of their comments (both good and bad) and I would like to think that their comments push me into making the series better than what it ever could be without them.
As BAM celebrates it's one year anniversary online, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the readers for their reviews, comments and discussions about the seasons characters, episodes and mythology.I wouldn't still be writing if it weren't for these discussions, and I am so very appreciative of all the theories, thoughts and opinions provided by you, the readers!
To Terry, who has given up so much of his time not only to read and follow the series, but to edit the earlier episodes and contribute graphics to the show - thank you so much! Your constant support for BAM has been a godsend for me and I cannot thank you enough. The discussions we have about the series and it's characters are what keeps me planning and writing, and your friendship and support are both appreciated and cherished. It means so much to me that you are who you are, and I thank you for everything you have done!
To Phoenixlighter, who has followed the series since it's premiere at Rebirth, and whose comments I always love to read - thank you for your support and for your insightful reviews. They remain the longest and most in-depth reviews BAM has ever seen, and it means so much to me to read not only your thoughts about the series, but your issues with it as well. You really 'get' the characters and tone of the show, and having someone like you to discuss the episodes with is something I really cherish. I am blessed to have such an in-depth and insightful reviewer as you!
To TemporalDeath, who appears to have an OCD approach to the show, reading episodes out of order (I still have no idea how things happening in the episodes make sense out of kilter!) - your comments regarding the episodes, and our late night discussions over msn are one of the most enjoyable past-times for me. I appreciate your 'tell it how it is' mentality, and I always know you won't sugar coat things for me, which makes a 'that was a good episode' comment from you high praise indeed! (and I am still in love with the Pharcas banner, just so you know)
To Rory, who was responsible for the beyond exceptional opening credits for BAM, and who has always been supportive of both the series and myself - thank you so much for all that you have done, not just for the series, but in being a good friend as well. Being surprised by those opening credits was one of the most memorable moments for me, and I still get a kick out of watching them! Thank you also for your friendship and support - I love our pm conversations and back room boards talk!
To Manar and Martin, who have created such fantastic trailers for BAM - words cannot begin to describe how awesome and amazing those trailers are, and how much it means to me that you took time out of your day to create them. They both sum up perfectly the tone of Alternate Season 2, and I love watching them! Thank you for creating such wonderful trailers for the fanfic.
To Lexi, Jake, karla, Seer, Brando, atlan, zanahary, saz, harrison, jdjams, nerf, james and anyone else who has read some of the series - thank you for your comments and reviews. Every one means the world to me, and I always look forward to logging on here and seeing a new post in the Alternate Season 2 boards!
To JustEs, who persevered through three of the episodes despite disliking a certain character - I appreciate your comments and your constructive criticism of both the episodes and it's characters. I may disagree with some of your points, but I respect your comments and your opinion, and I have taken into account your concerns when re-editing certain episodes. Thank you for at least giving the series a try.
Again, my humble appreciation and thanks go out to all the readers, whether they have read the entire series to date, or just a few episodes - your comments on the episodes and characters bring a smile to my face and I love nothing more than debating with you all the finer points of character development or show mythology!
This post is already so much longer than I thought it would be, but I want to add one more thing.
In the spirit of the first anniversary and to those readers who, for whatever reason, stopped reading the series and its episodes (and I know there are a few of you here!) send me a pm to let me know why. Was it the characterisation you didn't like? Were the episodes just too long or drawn out? Perhaps it was the plot-lines you didn't fancy? Whatever the case is, if you feel like you can, send me a pm letting me know where the series fell down for you.
And finally, to those who read the series but never post about it - let me know through pm what you like and/or dislike about the series! I love feedback on the episodes, both good and bad, so I would be estatic to hear from you!
Thanks to everyone who has made BAM what it is today, and thank you all for your kind words and constructive criticism. Here's hoping Alternate Season 2: Building A Mystery is still going strong in another year! (although hopefully, by then, Season 3 will be out)
