I'm currently reading a book in the "Night World" series. The Night World is this secret society of vampires, werewolves, and witches. The Night World has two rules; 1) Don't let anyone know of the Night World, and 2) Don't fall in love with a human. It's kind of like the Whitelighter-Witch scenario. The books are actually pretty interesting, although some of them can just be quite odd.
As for the Twilight series, I absolutely love it. Stephanie Meyer is a fabulous writer, as others have said. "New Moon" is probably the weakest in the series, in my opinion, but that would be up for debate. I think the relationships established are really good, altohugh fast moving. They are great books that you just fly through. My friend has actually read each one more than ten times...

Right now I'm reading the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyers, on New Moon (can't wait for the movie), Midnighters series by Scott Westerfield, and the Eragon series by Christopher Paolini. I'm really into the fantasy and sci-fi type, but also into the reality and mystery, for instance the book Summer Secrets by Barbara Freethy, INCREDIBLE book. I really recomend it, twist and turns along the whole book.

I am listening to an audio book on my PC at work call Left to Die by Lisa Jackson. It's about a serial killer who ties women to trees in blizzards and leaves them to die.
Now here is the strange part. The single mom detective on the case is having problems with her kids. The daughter's name is Bianca and her grades have gone down since she hooked up with her new boy friend Chris. Hmmm.

Oh my gosh, that is so weird. Sounds like a good MO for that serial killer. Tying people to trees to die. That's new.

Ok, I've just managed to get through Twilight and New Moon withing 48 hours and am now over half way through Eclipse. I just can't put the books down even though I have so much more that i need to do! Once I've got through the rest of the saga, I'll be moving onto another one of my Richard Langdon books, its a triology about an albino beast that lives in a house but nobody knows that it really does exist and thinks the killings in this house are all because of one woman. Its seems really interesting, I'm just wondering whether there really is a beast though and it just turns out to be some horror story for children to stop them from going into this house.....

I've finished the book Brida by Paulo Coelho and it was simply a brilliant book about a young woman, a witch seeking her path through life and witchcraft and finding her true soulmate. Coelho is an amazing writer and I'd love, no, I will read more novels from him.
I'm going to start reading two Charmed books because I bought them a long time ago, and I have to read them. Anyways, I suggest reading Brida to everyone who's into witchcraft fiction.

I saw that book at the book store, Manar. I may just have to pick it up sometime. Anyways, everyone has a summer reading list so I thought we should try and find some good books to read together this summer. Last night, I just finished reading the second book in the Twilight Saga, New Moon. It was definitely worth getting through the first boring 300 pages to get towards the end. I'm so pumped for Eclipse. I'm starting today and I could guess that I'll be done within a week. What are you guys planning to read this summer?

I did find the beginning of New Moon unattractive as well! Almost to the point where I thought I'd wasted my money when I bought it. But I'm glad I got through that part, now that I'm about two-third into the last one, Breaking Dawn. Expect a few good laughs, now that the boring stuff is behind you As for this summer. Well, I planned to reread all the Potter books as soon as I was done with Twilight so I could blame the directors of the sixth movie for doing things wrong when the movie finally comes out

I'm going to start reading two Charmed books because I bought them a long time ago, and I have to read them. Hey, did you ever read those Charmed books? And which ones are they? I own and have read most of the Charmed books. Some are a little dumb, but most of them I have really enjoyed. I look to them a lot when doing my own Charmed writing to help me learn how to use better description and how to better craft a story. I have yet to read any of the Twilight books and don't have much interest to. Can't judge a book by its cover, but... eh. I told my friend that if she will read the Harry Potter books (crazy girl hasn't yet) then I will read the Twilight books. But after reading what you guys have said... I don't know if I can make it through 300 boring pages. A book has to keep my interest, or else I get distracted by other books. There was this one that had a fantastic opening chapter, but a boring second one. I couldn't get through that chapter for like a year, maybe more, and the rest of the book was wonderful (the first book in the "X-Wing, Rogue Squadron" series, by the way). So yeah, 300 pages? Don't think I could last. Right now I am reading the third book in the Ranger's Apprentice series, The Icebound Land. I had read the first two and was really excited for the third, but it was going to be awhile before it came out. Then it did come out and I was busy with other books and then bam, two more had been released. So I reread the first two and am now on the third one. I was wary because someone had told me that the third one sucked, that nothing happened. HA! I am over half-way through and I love it. Not a lot of action is going on, but hello character development. We are getting so much wonderful characters and interactions. I even really like one of the "bad" guys. Plus the chairs at the table have been switched, with some characters interacting with others that they have really never interacted before and the result is great. I really enjoy this book and can't wait to get to the next one. I definitely recommend this series (which deals with knights and rangers and such). The stories are well crafted, the characters are interesting and fun, and the books are filled with humor and also some great excitement. Go and pick up the first one; The Rangers Apprentice: The Ruins of Gorlan.

I'm getting kind of tired of the Twilight books. It's just being really hyped up now I think. It's becoming very Tween.
Right now, I don't have a lot of time to read, but in between exams I'm reading Crime and Punishment.
It's a classic. Such good writing.

I don't have a summer reading list, I never do. I'm not that big on reading books, just never have time. The only reason I read Twilight was because I wanted to get through it before I saw the movie (which the trailer really interested me) and I'm really glad I did.
I've got lots of Stephen King and Richard Laymon books to get through but I'm not sure I will this summer since I've got a very packed one with the Army. I actually spend more time reading fac fictions than anything else!
I am almost at the end of "Cry Silent Tears" which I'm hoping to get finished soon, mainly because I want to see how it ends. Its a true story about a mute child who was abused by his mother and I'm really into psychology which is why this book was so intriguing to me. I really want to understand how a mother can do such a thing.
Books that I really really want to get through, and hope to at some point are: To Kill a Mockingbird 1984 Meine Kampf The Stand
You know something, I still haven't read any of the Potter books, they just don't interest me for some reason. I got through the first chapter of the first book and just put it down and never touched it again, so can't say that I didn't try. I watched the movie and fell asleep during it. I'm not sure what it is.

Mein Kampf?
That is a serious shock. I studied that book in history and I am really really surprised to see someone actually wants to read it.
Go ahead though, I suppose, that is if it's purely for reading and not for... ya know.. sparking ideas or anything.
I must warn you though, it's hard to find and it's also incredibly hard to read. Hitler was a terrible terrible writer.

I did politics at a-level and like I've said I'm interested in psychology. I could see him being a terrible writer its mainly interest on what he was thinking and how he got from being such a good politian and someone who could have made a great leader to someone who went extremely crazy and caused the worst case of genocide the world has ever seen.

I love reading books about history and psychology as well.
Lexi, you should check out this book called "Twilight children : three voices no one heard until a therapist listened" by Torey Hayden. It's true stories about this therapist whose job it is to get children who don't talk to talk, usually because of traumatic experiences. There's one girl who talks, but doesn't talk about what happened to her and is basically crazy (or acts like it), and a sweet little boy who just doesn't talk (but the therapist thinks there is more to it with his family), and there's also an old woman who doesn't talk (and the therapist is kind of ticked, since this isn't her job).
It is just a very interesting book with these three people (four, including the therapist). Unfortunately, I got half way through it, then got distracted by another book and never got back to this one. But I really do want to read it again and finish it. And if you like psychology, you should definitely pick this one up.
And Reyn! If you read this, I recommend this book for you, too!
About Hitler, I think he was always insane. I don't think he changed. Throughout everything he was a good politician. That's what got him to where he was. As a good politician he knew how to speak to the people and thereby manipulate them into his way of thinking. And it depends on what your definition of a "great leader" is. In a way, he was a great leader. Terrible... but great.
Speaking of, you might want to give Harry Potter another chance. I thought the first chapter was horribly boring as well, but it gets much better after that, especially with book 3 and on. And there are also many allusions between Voldemort and Hitler, and between the war in the books and WW2, especially in the later books. They get into some very interesting stuff that really makes you think.

I always thought there was so much between WW2 and the wizard war in Harry Potter! I loved that aspect SO much! Made it more realistic in a way. Ah, and Nerf, I caught that subtle HP reference... "Terrible... but great"!

Aha, nice one, OllivIander Actually, you don't have to wait that long for the first link between HP and the real WW2: Anyone remember Dumbledore's Chocolate Frog? *goes to search for the exact quote* (yes, I'm a Potterfreak, but I still can't know the seven books by heart ) Ah, there it is: " Dumbledore is particularly famous for his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945*." (*the underline is mine lol) Does that ring a bell, fellows ? And the whole "pure blood"/Arian race against "Mudblood" that starts as early as the second book ... As a matter of fact, I happen to have this friend of mine who would not read any Potter book until, I guess, he got bored with me insisting--and now he just can't put them down. He's even bought the special set with all seven books in it Other than that: I have finished the Twilight saga, and I'm actually sad I have. Just wish there was more And also, before I got around to "New Moon", I read the first book in "The Sword of Truth" series by Terry (ah!) Goodkind, and that was a nice read, even though my book was not always printed correctly and I had to tear it in all places to get entire lines Oh, that's fantasy, of course. I don't seem to read much else ;D But I do...sometimes. Whatever.

My only problem with Harry Potter now is the lack of time and I have to have some sort of interest to even pick up the book. I don't really want to buy the first one in case I really don't like it and feel like it was a waste of money. With Twilight, I borrowed a friend's book first and then ended up buying the four book special set so I could read the others.
A friend of mine does keep telling me that I can borrow the first HP book, but its just finding the time to read it, with it being so long! Like I've said before, I don't get much time to read and I already have a reading list lol

That's less than the first Twilight book. Then the second book gets a teensy bit longer. With the 3rd getting to twice that size. And the real deal of length begins with the 4th book But the first three, my friend read them all in not even a week. And I personally read the first one in just one day, but that's just me lol

I have been considering reading the Harry Potter books of late, I read the first two I think and then gave up, but I'm considering giving them another go, as silly and fluffy as they are, but hey I'm a Twilight fan so nothing gets too fluffy for me Right now however I am reading It by Stephen King, I was just saying over on C-Net how this is my first book by him and although it is taking a while to get going I am loving his style of writing. It is very in-depth and he takes the time to properly examine his characters and their pasts which is something I really like. Plus I'm hoping for a few chills
