Here we'll be listing things you can be looking forward to in the next couple of months here at Shadow Tales.
The Tale Of The Month: We'll be spotlighting a favourite fan fiction of one of the members here. You'll receive a banner & your name will be added to the Shadow Tales Hall Of Fame & much more...
Spotlighting....: This is when we'll be dedicating a whole month to one of the four fan fictions here with special features that will be revealed in due time
Writer's Trial: We'll be holding fan fiction contests from time to time, where we'll be giving you an idea to build up a single story & then it will be reviewed by the Elders & a winner will be chosen. Prizes TBA...)
Artistic Expression: We will be holding Scheme contests every other month. This is where we supply pictures & ask you to create the next scheme for the board. This way we get you members more involved with the board.
You may freely discuss what you think of the future attractions...

Yay, the tale of the month is finally coming to light! It'll mean so much to writers that you guys actually like their fic. I know it would mean a lot to me. This just makes me even more motivated to write. The spotlighting also sounds cool, I can't wait to see what extras come with the fic that is featured. Everything sounds great, I can't wait to participate! =)

I'm glad to see this board pursuing a dynamic and interactive path. I particularly like the idea of the Writer's Trial and the scheme contest.

There really are some great ideas here. I already spoke with Rory and we're aiming to get a Paige theme up by next month to celebrate the 1 Year anniversary of "Witchlighter". Much is planned for the occasion and that's just one of the things to look forward to by July 19th.

Thanks Jake.
I think the first Writer's Trail contest should be up by the first weeks of July. We just need to decide on a plot for it but we'll keep you all up to date on that.
The Spotlighting... portion will start once Empath is up & running as it's not fair to start it when Empath is not airing yet.
We are still going to decide who will be handling the "Tale Of The Month" task as we want to actually read the series & then award the writer the prize. We want to do some research on the series & explain why we have chosen that particular series as the winner. This will probably start in August as we want to give people time to join the board & build up their fics.
"Artistic Expression" hasn't really been discussed yet but it should happen soon. We have a few special schemes in mind that will be made by the Elders but once we have decided what type of schemes will be featured in the contest, we will open the thread for it.

Ooh! I'm looking forward to 'The Writers Trail'. One question tho, once the contest is over will we be able to view the other entry's? Or are The Elders the only other people besides the writer who will see them?

I would expect we show the other entries so people can personally judge themselves. Hopefully we'll be able to put up some form of Writer's Elimination which sorta mimics C-Net's Designer Elimination where writers are tasked with writing something within a respective amount of time based on how good the topic was carried out, spelling mistakes, grammar, proper punctuation and so on. That would actually be a bit more fun, I'd imagine.

I'm not a C-Net member so I don't actually know what Designer Elimination is... I'm assuming that it's something like this: Someone graphically makes some art work and the each week (fortnight, month) some one gets eliminated.

You actually get a task & then you get a week to complete it & then they put up the graphic for all to see & then people vote on it & the people in charge of the DE give critiques & scores & once the voting ends after that week the person with the lowest scores are eliminated.
That would be kinda cool to do that with the fics but that will still be discussed between the Elders.

Thank's for clearing that up Rory. EDIT BTW, I love the sound of this Writers Elimination that would be pretty fun. I hope we have that now. Maybe we could make it a yearly thing, but I guess this depens on how long the site is open for tho.

I think we'll actually incorporate that with the Writer's Trial instead of naming it Writer's Elimination. Hun, this board is going to be around for a loooooong time. We're not going anywhere.

Oh, a Writer's Elimination seems cool enough, so that there's not only the Elders' choice (what if you get ex aequo? ), but also the other members. Although it'd be fairer if competitors weren't allowed to vote lol

Although it'd be fairer if competitors weren't allowed to vote lol Yeah, that was my problem with the DE. People were voting for friends. If it's just judges, you can expect it to be fair. I really don't care who's friends with me, lol. I will just as much give you a bad review if the quality wasn't up to par as I would someone I loathe (although I do get more laughs out of doing it to them) so I would personally prefer if it was out of the audience's hands. Maybe even one day, we can flip the switch and have past winners or something judge the Elders with topics they created as well.
