Well, i don't know about you, but Halloween is absolutely one of my most favorite holidays of the year. It isn't about the dressing up, or trying to spook people out of their minds on Halloween that makes it fun for me, but the (i know it sounds corny) magic that you just sort of feel during the month. This is the month in which I got Charmed/witch crazy. I watch the Halloween movies (not horror), the Halloween episodes of my favorite TV shows ("All Halliwells Eve") and others that are just totally awesome.
So what about you all? Do you like Halloween? Do you hate it? If you don't celebrate it, do you still like the theme of Halloween?

I love Halloween! Next to Christmas, it is my favourite time of year.
I totally agree with you about the feeling you get around late October - there's just something about Halloween - the mood it creates - that is lacking for all other holidays (in my opinion). It really does feel otherworldly, and one of my favourite past-times is to go driving the ten minutes before and after midnight on Halloween - the eerie feel of the night is ramped up 10 fold.
Here in Australia we don't celebrate Halloween much - which is why I'd love to visit America during that time. I've heard the theme parks stay open on Halloween night and have 'fright night' themed parties. That I would love!

...Disney-classics like Hocus Pocus... Ack! I absolutely adore that movie! One of my all time favourites. I don't know what it is about it, but it's such a great feel-good magicky movie. Bette Midler is superb in it.

Coincidence, me too That was a nice dark comedy of a kid flick. Being a city, we don't have Halloween here in Dubai, but in the suburbs the white-folk (no offence) do go trick-o-treating from house to house though I've heard they barely get any candy But yeah, I enjoy that eerie feel Halloween has to it. One of these years my friends and I need to get together and try summoning a ghost or something:P

AH! I fricken love Hocus Pocus! I haven't seen it in years, sadly. Wish I owned it.
Halloween hasn't been the biggest thing for me these past few years as I can no longer eat candy (evil food allergies). As that was the best part, the whole thing has just become kind of... eh. No one really trick-or-treats around our neighborhood anymore, either. We used to have a bunch. maybe it's because most of the kids around here grew up... I think the few kids that are around actual go to different areas. Last couple years we have gotten only a couple people to come to the door. Not that I mind. I don't want the tempting candy in the house and the ringing of the doorbell causing the dog to bark.
My birthday is actually the day before Halloween so usually I'm a little more focused on that. ;D
Here's a question for you all. What age do you think you should stop trick-or-treating? Had a discussion with my parents yesterday about it and they are both of the mind that once you become a teenager you should stop (around 12). They said that it's basically a treat for the kids and that people give out candy because the trade off for them is seeing cute kids in costumes. I'm of the opposite, though. You don't stop liking candy once you hit your teens. And why is society so bent on crushing child-like spirit out of people because of age? It's frowned upon to like, or do things when you're older that is acceptable for children. Why should one stop liking something, or stop doing something they enjoyed as a kid just because they are older? Part of me thinks that trick-or-treating is the same thing, but I'm not sure. I stopped going as I got older, but that was partly because I was lazy and didn't want to go out in the cold when I could eat the candy we had at home. But what are your thoughts?
By the way, there's going to be some fun Halloween stuff coming up on the board very soon. I deem this board activity slump over!
