For Christmas, I got Sony Vegas (can't remember for version off the top of my head...I'll get back to you on that) so that I could make Charmed videos etc. I've not really had much time since then due to exams but now that I have I really wan't to start making opening credits but I'm having a few problems. I was wondering if any of the fantastic video makers out there could give me a few pointers? I can do Charmed text, and I've started playing around with gradients and stuff, but I'm a little lost. I'd really appreciate it if someone could answer the following questions: 1. How do you get clips? Do you take them off of your dvds, and if so, what programme do you use to do this? 2. How do I do the effect where it switches from showing their name to the next clip? (hard to explain) Where it flashes and it sort of zooms on their face. 3. What techniques are there for adding the "Charmed" effect. 4. How do I shorten the clip length in sony so that it "flashes"? I've been struggling to work this one out lol.

Once I'm done being so lazy, I'm gonna answer those questions for you. I also work on Sony Vegas (obviously). I can answer the first one now, though. I use Free DVD Ripper, which rips any DVD you want. It's very easy to work on.

1. I dvdrip them and I use Handbrake for that. You can google it 2. Create one keyframe shots of clips, add the charmed flashes over that and there you go... 3. It depends on what version of Vegas you use.... Vegas Pro 9: Vegas Pro 7/8 It should work on Sony Vegas Movie Studio as well 4. Click and drag the clip left and if you want to slow/speed it, shift+click drag works The charmed triquetra and stuff can be found in the link at the first video... The charmed flashes can be found at charmed.wiki, type charmed credits and there will be a gallery of charmed flashes, or you can screenshot it from the real charmed credits...

I added those on the Charmed Wiki I'm not a fan of the color orbs, they are overused in openings. I'll try yo explain how I did mine when I have more time.

Lol, I know, I edit there every once in a while... But most people use colour orbs, because they're kind similar to S7 opening credits, I think. But I do agree, it's time for a new style

They never used color balls I believe. I never saw an actual color ball in the credits, but I'm guessing it's easier to do then the real credits.
I used textures in my Power of Three Blondes credits and put a blur on them. I then either choose screen, add, overlay, subtract and sometimes cut a piece away where the face of an actor is. I think it looks better instead of those color balls.

In S7's credits, especially in Paige's title clip, there are these little colours around their faces that change colour and shape...I guess that's where the inspiration for colourballs came from...
