I just watched the movie The Knowing. It was a good movie, but has left me very depressed. Listening to Britney Spears, which ALWAYS makes me feel better. So far it's only slightly helping. This movie had quite the impact on me. Time to pull out the big guns: If U Seek Amy. ;D
By the way, I just want to mention that the movies that "freak me out" the most are the ones where the things could actually happen. But anyway, does anyone have any movies that have had a big impact on them, whether emotionally, or in some other way?
EDIT: Also, what music do you listen to when you need some cheering up?

I've had a few movies that have made an impact on me, for different reasons. Despite being a horror movie fan, when I watched Quarantine I was quite unsettled with a few of the things they showed. Not so much because it was gory or nightmare-inducing, but because I thought they'd take the usual horror movie approach and not show it. Also - the movie doesn't rely on your general horror scares to get it's frights in. There's parts of that move where you think a particular thing is going to happen, and the exact opposite does. But fair warning - if you watch this movie at night, have at least one light on.
28 Days Later was also a fantastic movie - because of the end parts of the movie. It was a horror movie, but the ending was a total 'oh my god' moment. It would probably have to be my favourite horror movie, actually. Because it had a plot, as opposed to the general horror movie crud.
The Fifth Element is an awesome movie if you just want to relax and be totally absorbed in a futuristic sci-fi setting. Total Recall is also good for that.
And of course I cried my eyes out when ET was first released. The poor little alien - what they did to him! I remember riding the ET ride at universal studies when I went there when i was 9 - loved it.
I wouldn't mind seeing District 9 - it looks pretty good.
As to what I listen to to cheer me up - can't go past 80s pop music! Roxette for the win.

Oh god. Quarantine. That movie terrified me to the core. I don't know why either, it wasn't a real jumpy scary movie if you know what I mean? It was just...creepy.
I think the movie that really creeped me out was The Strangers. It was based on a true story and it is so possible that it just terrified me.
I usually listen to some good ol' Blink 182 or Paramore or something like that when I need cheering up. Something kind of jump up and down Pop-Rock stuff gets my spirits up. Speaking of jump up and down rock, has anyone heard the new Muse song?
I don't know if there are any fans here but I am going to see them on their new tour here in November and judging by the first single from their new album, it is going to kick major heiny.

Ugh, Karla! I'm so jealous! Haven't heard the new single, since YouTube pretty much takes down any video over here, and it's not on iTunes. Got another outlet? To get my mood up, I usually listen to a really upbeat song, or one I'm obsessed with. At the moment...to get my spirits up, I'd probably listen to something off the new MuteMath CD. It kicks ass and makes me so mad that I didn't beg my dad to take me to that show. Yesterday I went with a friend to her grandmother's house and we swam in the pool. It's nuclear hot over here, and I don't have any air conditioning. None of my friends have pools, but luckily my friend's grandma did. She is the cutest little old lady.

Phew! Its been a busy week for me. I went to a selection board for the RAF because I'm trying to transfer from the Army. There's a bunch of reasons for it, but one of them is that I wanted to join the RAF before I got into the university scheme that I'm now in but was put off by a Flight Sergeant.
Anyway, so I'm back from the board and it seemed to go ok. I can't say for certain whether I've gotten the transfer but I'm really hoping I did. Hopefully I'll find out in about 4 weeks time. Apparently, the longer it takes for them to tell me, the better it is for me since it means they're thinking about my application!
Also, I'm moving out this weekend and into my boyfriend's house for a few months until my life gets sorted out and I know what's going on with my transfer!

Good luck Lexi!
Well, for me, I have been awaiting school's beginning, since it will be my senior year and one of the most hectic years apparently. I am looking forward to it, but not the hectic part., my classes seem easy enough lol.
Well, I turned 18, got my liscense, and after a long time of waiting, I finally got my car yesterday. Still gettting used to it, but I am excited non the less. That is really it for me...hoping to come back here more, and release some stuff for my series, maybe a short story if I have the time. We shall see!

Okay, for the first time ever... I have put a song of mine on the internet. Okay, so not mine... a cover. But still. It's a cover of Britney Spears' song Radar. Not my best work ever... recorded it last year and there are things I would change now. But it's okay, and probably the best song, vocal wise, that I have on my computer right now. I changed some of the lyrics to fit me as a guy more, especially at the beginning. Youtube did diminish the quality somewhat, but oh well. Still sounds okay. Anyway, here is the link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj5JpsbCqZg&fmt=18Hope you like it, more to come. A couple more Britney songs (they are so fun to sing) and some other covers. I have yet to make any of my own songs yet. Not sure I can even write a song. Okay, well, enjoy. Comments are appreciated.

Nerf, that was really good. Well done. You have a very nice voice. Some more practice and you'll be great. I love what you did to the lyrics. I'm looking forward for more. Mel, I'm so sorry the Demi set isn't ready yet, I haven't even started. I've been busy. I'll make it up to you. So, what's new with everyone?

So Nerf, not so bad. You are pretty good. As Manar said. A little more practice and you'll be great! Looking forward to listening to more!

Haha, Manar, I totally forgot about that! Don't worry about it, you don't have to make it. Nerf, you're pretty good, but I think that your voice has that choral sound, which doesn't really suit the song. It naturally happens from being trained for choir. I was trained as a soprano, and it took me awhile to make my voice sound pop-ish. You do have a lot of ability, so good work! Well, I am now employed. I work at an apple orchard. I went in for training yesterday and I am scared shitless for my first day on the job! Other than that, I went to my friend's "We Aren't Freshman Anymore" party. It was fun, but work just had me really stressed out and not in a partying mood. 8 more days until school...

Congrats, Melissa! That's awesome with you having a job. My brother's still looking. Just try to find a good balance with that and school, because I heard it can be really stressful. Nerf, I really want to hear you sing, but I'm on my school PC right now, so I'm not allowed to go on YouTube right now, but when I get home, I let you know what I think. EDIT: That was really good. I liked how you did the chorus of the song. Yeah, I think Youtube kind of messed it up. But it was really good. Kay, so sorry I haven't reallybeen on in a while (prolly didn't notice ), but yeah, I started school last Thursday, so I've only had time to just have a quick peak here. It's alright there, I'm a junior now, whoo hoo! And I really want to start writing now more than ever. Just have to find a good balance with that and homework. How's everybody's week so far?

Thanks to all of you for your comments. Melissa, I have noticed with some pop songs my voice doesn't exactly fit. Usually I think it's because my voice can be too low (which is odd, since I don't have a low speaking voice), but that's interesting what you said. I've never been trained for choir. I mean, I was in choir in 7th grade, but that doesn't really count. And I sing in a praise band at church, but I tend to sing completely different there, than when I am singing the type of songs I want to do. Hmm. How did you exactly train yourself to sing pop-ish? By the way, if you're a singer too, let us hear ya! ;D I have a recording I did of "Circus" on my computer, but... I don't know. I like it an think it's pretty good, but I recorded this one awhile ago as well. December or January, I think. I don't have anything new... grr. Need to get into the studio. Anyway, might put that one up, might not. Thanks for the support, though, from all of you. Means a lot. Melissa, I hope your job is going well. What do you do at it? Do you pick the apples, or count them, or... what? Sounds kinda fun, though. And at least you have a job. Since I lost mine in June I have sent out sooo many applications, but no one is responding. Gonna send out a few more tomorrow, so hopefully I get a bite. But I am running so low on money and I'm getting worried. I'm going to have to cancel my cell phone as that is too much money a month. But that's not the biggest issue. The biggest issue is, well, food. And school. I can't go back to school this fall (it's actually already started) because I don't have the money for it. Parents can't really help either, since they are having a lot of money issues this year themselves. So yeah... sucks.

Really, Nerf? That's so funny because you sound like you're trained for choir. Hey, I'd say that's a good thing. For me, I try to rough my voice up. Do you notice how most pop singers have an edge to their voice and it's not always smooth? Just practice your tone and the way you move your mouth, you'll find your niche. LoL, and yeah...Maybe you'll hear me... At my job, I do a lot of different things. The boss runs the kids on circuits, and you rotate every couple of hours. So, I'm a cashier, I make donuts, I sweep the floors, I help with birthday parties, I sit out in the hay maze, and dress up as Little Bo Peep and sit in the sheep pen (hopefully, I will NEVER have to do that). I don't really know exactly what I will be doing, as of yet, but my first day is tomorrow. Nerf, money is really tight for everyone these days, it sucks. You just have to try and budget your money and get what you absolutely need. I'm sure some employer will take the bait soon, especially if you're putting yourself out there. Luckily, you can return to school when you have the money.

It will be okay Nerf. The world is all like what we are going into right now. What i learned is that you need to call the employers about your app, if they allow you too. Like asking if they have recieved your app at least. I sent out a bunch as well, and no response. I mean I had one interview, but I havent gotten a bite yet. We'll see as well.
Well, I got relatives from the UK here. Been a crazy few days. I went to Hollywood, and just did a tour, and saw the wax museum. Dland, cause my parents wanted to send me for my bday, and they were back to back. i am not getting sick cause of doing all this working around...lol.
I got Heroes Season 3, pretty cool so fa.r I'll see if I like the rest...lol.

This is the first day I've managed to get on the internet properly since moving out and have some really really good news (for me anyway). I found out the other day that I've been accepted into the RAF which means I'll be leaving on the 14th Feb for all my training. I've still got to discharge from the Army though but I'm really really excited. Nerf, I just listened to your cover version of Radar and it sound pretty good, like what most people have said, a bit more practise and you'll be great. I can hear what Melissa was saying about it sounding more choral trained and it does need that little bit of roughing up for a pop song but that comes with practise. Congrate Melissa on getting the job, hope you're enjoying it. Anyway, I'm still going to be a bit hit and miss with the forum for a little longer since its taking my boyfriend way too long to get internet. If he doesn't get it in the next week or so, I'm going to be doing it all myself and billing it to his accounts if he's not careful! I can't live without internet at all! Its ridiculous how my life has gotten like this though, it was only 10 years ago that the internet was a luxery that I didn't have! haha!

Ha, congrats Lexi! That's great to hear! I can easily how excited you are and I hope it turns out well in the end for you! As for me, school and cross country seem to be running my life recently. I can't seem to find any extra time to write or post online because most days I wake up, go to school, run at practice, homework, and then get to sleep. I guess I'll just have to take advantage of my weekends more... Anyways... just wanted to drop in and say hi.

WOuld that language be for your alternate series? Well, I've not had an internet connection in my house for a good month, since my boyfriend and his friends took ages to get internet. Anyway, now that I've got it I've found out that I'm hardly going to be on anyway because I'm working 40-50 hours a week until I join the RAF in Feb! I'm not really complaining though, I enjoy work and its worth it for the weekly pay.

Don't forget to take time out of those working days for some 'me' time. And tell your boyfriend he owes you an expensive dinner and a pamper pack for taking that long to get internet! A month without internet is scandalous! And yep - the language is for BAM. I created it for the Kalliath, so that they will speak in 'Kallic' when they are together. Charmed had it easy with their clicky clacky clack crud of a whitelighter language.
